Rise 2021 Transforming the Landscape Gala - Featuring the "Lifting Our Communities" Awards

Join Rise at the St. Louis Marriott Grand for an incredible evening as we celebrate the people who have had a positive impact on transforming the landscape of the St. Louis metropolitan area and who have helped Rise build stronger, more equitable neighborhoods.

Cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m.
- All tables of 10 have been converted to 2 tables. A table of 6 and a table of 4 will be provided for the purpose of social distancing.
- Temperatures will be taken upon check-in
- Proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to the event will be required at check-in.
- Masks must be worn when not eating or drinking.
- Hand sanitizer will be provided at all tables for guests.
- All COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed at the event.
2021 Lifting Our Communities Honorees
Stephen Acree—Lifetime Achievement Award, awarded to the person whose lifetime contributions to the community development system in the St. Louis metropolitan have had a significant impact on neighborhood redevelopment.
Loura Gilbert—Housing Development & Leadership, awarded to the person whose lifetime contributions to community unification and investment strategies have had a significant impact on housing development in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Aaron Williams—Rise YP Community Catalyst Award, awarded to a current or former member of the Rise Young Professionals Board who has provided exceptional inspiration to other young professionals and whose efforts have had a significant impact on the growth, awareness, and development of disenfranchised neighborhoods in St. Louis.
Posthumous Recognition Awards
Peter F. Benoist—awarded for Peter’s lifetime work and positive impact in community development and community development banking.
Mike Harris—awarded for his role in the revitalization of St. Louis and the preservation of its historic buildings, including Crown Square (a major Rise development in Old North St. Louis).
Gregory B. Vatterott—awarded for Gregory’s redevelopment of many of the City of St. Louis’ neighborhoods, including Gas Light Square, the Gate District, and the West End area.
